Certificates & Credentials

Everything you need to know about required certificates

Certain roles legally require that you have and upload a valid certificate in the Adia app. Once we approve your certificate and you are fully onboarded, the job will move from “Standby” to “To Book” and you can book it.

Food handling certificates assure employers that you have completed and are knowledgeable in required food safety training. Typically positions like servers, cooks/chefs, etc. are required to have this certificate before working. You can get one here.

The alcohol handling certificate will tell the employer that you can safely serve alcohol and stay within the law. Usually any gigs where you are preparing or serving alcohol require you to have this certificate. You can get one here.

Food and alcohol handling certificates can easily be obtained online by completing a course. The price ranges from $0.99 – $20, depending on your state and the website you choose. Do a quick search to see if a local agency provides the certificates for free. If not, here are a few national websites to get yours from:

You have two options:

A) Job Matches: Gigs in “Standby”  that require a  certificate will have a button that says, “Upload Cert.” Tap the button and follow the instructions on-screen to upload your certificate.

B) Go to the Menu button (☰), tap “My Profile” and open “Certificates & Credentials.” Tap the plus sign (+) and then choose the certificate you want to upload from the dropdown menu. Upload the certificate and “Save.”

Once you upload your certificate in the Adia app, if verified it will be approved in 1-2 business days. In order to avoid any delays, make sure you submit a clear photo of the certificate where all information is easy to read.

You can always find an expiration date on the certificate itself. Most last a few years, but in good practice you should check every once in a while to make sure it’s up to date.

Other certificates that are useful are forklift certificate and OSHA. You can upload any certificates in your profile under “Certificates & Credentials.”
